Error description

  • CHKW does not work correctly on BSN wrap cases.
    Case-1: Low bound=FFFDxxxx  High bound=0002xxxx CHKW
    Count=FFFExxxx This is a valid CHKW, DFSFLLG0 handle this as NOP

    Case-2: Low bound=FFFDxxxx  High bound=0002xxxx  CHKW
    Count=FFFCxxxx
      This is the case that CHKW issued with old count, and this
    should be handled as NOP. But DFSFLLG0 build CHKW AWE.

    Case-3: Low bound=FFFDxxxx  High bound=0002xxxx  CHKW
    Count=0003xxxx
      This is wrong CHKW count case and should be handled as NOP.
      But DFSFLLG0 build CHKW AWE.

    This is an error in DFSFLLG0 after label LLCH0010.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All V13 IMS users *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Some committed log data may be lost *
    *                      after abnormal termination              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
    The checkwrite process in DFSFLLG0 made inaccurate decisions
    on whether log data was already hardened or not. This could
    result in data not being written to the WADS when it should
    have been.

Problem conclusion

  • GEN:
    KEYWORDS:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
    Procedure LLCHECK in DFSFLLG0 has been corrected. Null
    checkwrite tokens are now treated as if they refer to the
    latest assigned log space and the commitment decision is
    now made correctly when the low 16 bits of the last BSN
    written to the OLDS is higher than the low 16 bits of
    the latest assigned BSN.
