PM82682: LOOP IN ASMXREF

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• While attempting to process a macro with a very largne number of
  records, ASMXREF goes into a loop.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ASMXREF may loop while processing a     *
  *                      very long source code input file.       *
  *                      The DSN / filename  printed in          *
  *                      SYSPRINT report may become corrupt.     *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF provided.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  Users of ASMXREF attempting to scan a source code library
  containing a very large number of lines may find that ASMXREF
  loops indefinitely.
  Users of ASMXREF may see that the DSN/ filename printed in the
  Begin Processing xxx Library line of the SYSPRINT report can
  become corrupted.
  

Problem conclusion

• ASMXREF has been modified to handle very long source code
  libraries.
  ASMXREF has been modified to print the correct DSN / filename
  in the SYSPRINT report.
  
  The Toolkit Feature User's Guide will be updated in section
  ASMXREF User Abends of Chapter 5, Using the Cross-Reference
  Facility to document a new user abend code 024 with
  accompanying message. This being on P165 for the V1R6 version
  of this manual.
