Error description

  • The customer has a user-written data conversion exit in their
    MQ V7.0.1 system. They applied z/OS and MQ maintenance and the
    exit began failing. If the customer backs off the MQ software
    changes and the exit worked ok with the "old" MQ libraries. The
    maintenance was an upgraded from RSU1205 to RSU1209. No changes
    were made to the exit which calls MQXCNVC routine.
    .
    They receive the following messages in the CHIN address space:
    .
    CSQX048I -CSQ1 CSQXADPM Unable to convert message for
    REQUEST.QUEUE, MQCC=1 MQRC=12648488
    CSQX548E -CSQ1 CSQXRCTL Messages sent to local dead-letter
    channel CSQ1.CONV.ECCZDB036,
    reason=2110
    .
    The data conversion is for messages being sent and received from
    IMS via OTMA.
    The Change Team has taken a look at the docs and they can see
    the cause of the problem. The MQCC 12648488 is actually
    x00C10028, internal return code CSQA_NEED_TABLE_LOAD. This
    occurs after applying the PTF for PM65400 and having a
    conversion exit in the CHIN which uses MQXCNVC. If it's the
    case that the conversion requested by the exit (in this
    particular case converting from 819 to 285) requires the loading
    of a conversion table, the MQXCNVC will fail with reason code
    x00C10028 as seen.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When putting messages to an IMS bridge queue, it may be
    necessary to perform data conversion. The conversion requires
    that a table module be loaded. Changes to the channel initiator
    made to address APARs PM53107/PM58956 meant that a change was
    made to the table loading mechanism. This change was not made in
    a way that fully supports conversion when loading tables during
    MQPUT conversion for the IMS bridge.

Problem conclusion

  • The mechanism to load data conversion tables has been modified
    to ensure it is compatible with all environments that may
    need to load conversion tables.
