Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Version * * 7.0, 8.0 and 8.5 users of JavaServer Pages * * (JSP). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An EL Expression in a JSP file is not * * evaluated if the expression is * * preceded by two backslashes ("\\"). * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If two backslashes are positioned before an EL expression, it is considered to be escaped and the expression will not be evaluated. For example, an expression such as this: <test:mytag myAttr="\\${1+1}" /> will result in the rendered value of the myAttr attribute to be "\${1+1}". The correct behavior is that the expression is evaluated and the rendered value is "\2".
Problem conclusion
The JSP Container code was modified to properly evaluate expressions when they are preceded by two backslashes. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.6, and 8.5.0.2.
