Error description
When installing IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.0 on Linux as a prelude to installing IBM Rational ClearCase 8.0.0.1, there are some ambiguous area of the installation documentation that require clarification: 1: In the 'Installing WebSphere Application Server V8.0 web components' section at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cchelp/v8r0m0/topic/com .ibm.rational.clearcase.cc_ms_install.doc/topics/was_install/t_i nstall_was8_components.htm Several steps in this topic (from Step 14 onwards) assume that the installation is on Microsoft Windows, and do not offer any options a Linux/Unix installation. 2: In the 'Configuring a web plug-in for IBM HTTP server version 8' section at. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cchelp/v8r0m0/topic/com .ibm.rational.clearcase.cc_ms_install.doc/topics/was_install/t_c onfig_web_plugin_ihs8.htm The sample location for the location of the Web Server Plug-in Location, may not be correct for Linux/Unix hosts. the UNIX/Linux location example is 'WASplugin, /opt/IBM/WebSphere' and needs to be 'WASPlugin, /opt/IBM/WebSphere/Plugins' to allow the selection of the IBM HTTP server plugin. 3: In the 'Configuring a web plug-in for IBM HTTP server version 8'section at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cchelp/v8r0m0/topic/com .ibm.rational.clearcase.cc_ms_install.doc/topics/was_install/t_c onfig_web_plugin_ihs8.htm The 'Complete the plug-in configuration process.' states click (Remote) Host name or IP address of the application server. Then, type the IP address of the WebSphere Application Server that you are configuring the web server plug-in for.' This is only true if the HTTP server is not on the same machine as the WAS server, which is a different configuration than the rest of the installation instructions describe.
