Error description
When a formula is build with the isNull function, then running the report on CQWeb client returns False where it should be True on records with data. On CQ Windows client the report works as expected. Steps to reproduce: 1- On default DefectTracking SAMPL schema/database, create a report based on query/report format for record: Defect. 2- Add the fields: id, Headline and Description to define the report. 3- Modify some records adding text in the 'Description' field. 4- Author the report with supported CR version and add the 3 fields to display on it. 5- Create a formula field; eg. Null and define it in the formula editor as: isNull ({ClearQuest.description}) , add it to the report and save the report. 6- Run the report on CQWindows client. The report will display: 'False' on records with text in the description field and 'True' on records containing no text in the description field, as expected. 7- Run same report on CQWeb client, report is displaying 'False' on all records!

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When using the Crystal Reports isNull function to test for an empty ClearQuest string field, the result is inconsistent between the desktop clients and the Report Server for Crystal Reports. When running a report using the Report Server for Crystal Reports, the isNull function returns false for cases where a value of true is expected.
Problem conclusion
A fix is available in ClearQuest 8.0.0.8 and 8.0.1.1. The ClearQuest Reporting Driver was updated to treat empty string values as nulls.
