  Abends are due to a storage leak which may occur when processing
  certain types of I/O errors on table spaces or indexes.  In some
  cases an error tracking MMRBE block may be allocated but never
  freed because the code to free it is only invoked for actual I/O
  errors and not for "related" I/O errors (a related error is when
  an I/O error on one page causes the I/O for other pages to be
  skipped).
  

Problem conclusion

• The I/O error handling code has been modified to ensure that the
  MMRBE block is always freed.
