Error description

  • Discrepancy between tape volsers shown in MQ MSTR joblog and
those that end up in the z/OS catalog for multi-volume MQ
Archive Log datasets. The BSDS backup can be accessed fine.
However, an attempt to unload the Archive dataset fails with
    IEC023I 237-08.
L3 found CSQJDS04 is using R1 to address the CAMLST parameter
list volume entries. However, after the second volume is
processed (i.e. the first OOBEXT), CSQSFSTG is invoked which
changes the contents of R1. This means that the third volume
list entry is not setup correctly.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Discrepancy between archive log volsers *
    * on joblog and catalog. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
An archive log is taken which spreads over several volumes
of tape. The catalog entry for the log has incorrect volsers
after the second volume. They are either wrong or corrupted.
Any attempt to unload the archive log fails with IEC023I 237-08.
This occurred in CSQJDS04 where R1, the pointer to the volsers,
is lost when it is reused in a CSQSFSTG call.

Problem conclusion

  • CSQJDS04 has been updated to save and restore the pointer to the
    list of volsers.
