Error description
DB2 OBJECT COMPARISON TOOL FOR Z/OS DOES NOT GENERATE PROPER GRANT STATEMENT
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Object Comparison Tool * * for z/OS who compare source DDL to target * * DDL which contain GRANT UPDATE * * (column-name,...) or GRANT REFERENCES( * * column-name,...) statement on the table * * or view. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DB2 Object Comparison Tool for * * z/OS generates an incorrect GRANT * * UPDATE statement in the APPLY job or * * Work Statement List (WSL) when * * comparing source DDL and target DDL * * containing GRANT UPDATE * * (column-name,...) statement on a table * * or view. The correct GRANT statement * * should be: * * * * GRANT UPDATE(column-name,...) * * on TABLE <table-name>/ * * >view-name< to * * >authorization-name<. * * * * However, DB2 Object Compare * * generates the following statement * * with missing column information. * * * * GRANT UPDATE() on TABLE * * >table-name</>view-name< to * * >authorization-name<. * * * * In the comparison report, there is * * an ADB1873E error message displayed * * for the table comparison, but DB2 * * Object Compare still ends with return * * code 0. * * * * ADB1873E Processing ended but not all * * supplied catrows were used * * * * The same problem exists when the DDL * * being compared contains the GRANT * * REFERENCES(column-name,...) * * statement. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS generates an incorrect GRANT UPDATE statement in the APPLY job or Work Statement List (WSL) when comparing source DDL and target DDL containing GRANT UPDATE(column-name,...) statement on a table or view. The correct GRANT statement should be: GRANT UPDATE(column-name,...) on TABLE <table-name>/ >view-name< to >authorization-name<. However, DB2 Object Compare generates the following statement with missing column information. GRANT UPDATE() on TABLE >table-name</>view-name< to >authorization-name<. In the comparison report, there is an ADB1873E error message displayed for the table comparison, but DB2 Object Compare still ends with return code 0. ADB1873E Processing ended but not all supplied catrows were used The same problem exists when the DDL being compared contains the GRANT REFERENCES(column-name,...) statement.
Problem conclusion
Problem has been resolved. When DB2 Object Compare encounters an ADB1873E error, it will now end with return code 8 instead of 0.
