Error description

• DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS ALTER process may not detect
  SYSTEM ABEND E37-08 , and terminate with RETURN CODE=4 from DB2
  Utility in its (re)load step, which may lead to potential data
  loss

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for     *
  *                 z/OS who use 'Alter Column' (ALC) / 'Alter   *
  *                 Table ALT' (ALT) commands to alter the       *
  *                 columns of a table that contains data to     *
  *                 be converted and then use Work Statement     *
  *                 List (WSL) to run the alter job.             *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS    *
  *                      Batch Restart program ADBTEP2 does not  *
  *                      detect a SYSTEM ABEND E37-08 which is   *
  *                      displayed when invoking the ADB27AC     *
  *                      program, and erroneously terminates     *
  *                      with a RC 4 / RETURN CODE 4 on the      *
  *                      DB2 utility and (re)load step, when     *
  *                      using WSL to run the alter job.         *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  The Batch Restart program ADBTEP2 erroneously returns a RETURN
  CODE 4 / RC 4 when invoking program ADB27AC even though a
  SYSTEM ABEND E37-08 is generated during the conversion from
  an unload to ULC data set in the alter job:
