APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • From z/VSE 5.1 the SDWA provides the hardware BEAR that makes
it easier to trace a failing branch by providing the address
of the instruction that caused the program check.
The new SDWA structure is SDWARC4 and it is addressed by
SDWAPTRS.SDWAXEME. SDWAXEME is not available before 5.1 and
    must not be accessed.

    ****************************************************************
z/VSE Version 5 provides the SDWA field SDWABEA that contains
the start address of the last executed branch instruction, which
is also known as the BEAR. CICS does not format this information
as part of DFHPD410 KE=1 formatting for system dumps. This is a
serviceability requirement for diagnosis of wild branch
    problems.

KEYWORDS: KERRD TAS sysdump sdump sdumps sysdumps br
              PK47015 PK47715

Problem conclusion

  • CICS Kernel domain has been changed to include "Branch Event
Address: xxxxxxxx" as part of the formatting for its KE=1
    data.

The CICS TS for VSE/ESA CICS Data Areas manual LY33-6086-0 has
been changed to describe the changes to the KERRD control
block on pages 170 and 171.

Offset Type Len Name (Dim) Description
     Hex

(4D) CHARACTER 3 CICS_BEA_1 First part of the BEAR

(1A5) CHARACTER 1 KERNEL_BEA_2 Last part of the BEAR
    (1A6) CHARACTER 2 * Reserved
