PM69352: DQM: FILTERING FOR NULL VALUES WITH LARGE MDX CROSSJOINS CAUSING XQE-GEN-0002 JAVA.LANG.OUTOFMEMORYERROR

Error description

• Report vs SAP BW with large MDX crossjoin, and detail filter on
  key figure looking for null entries.??XQE-GEN-0002 An unexpected
  exception occurred: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError??Detail filter
  for numerical values seem to be fine.??Workaround with dummy
  relational expression:?char_length('a')=1 and [Quantity] is null
  

Local fix

• One solution is to use the fact that there is a "NON EMPTY" clau
  se on the axis and try to filter the non empty sets early on whe
  n executing the FILTER or the first CROSSJOIN outside of the FIL
  TER. But this can not be done arbitrarily for any query all the
  time because we are changing the semantics of the query and the
  results could be different. For this specific case where we have
   a "plain" sequence of the form GENERATE( CROSSJOIN.

  * I do not think anyone would intentionally write this sort of *
  * query as the null cells have no value.  We are still         *
  * discussing how we could throw an error message instead of    *
  * allowing an out of memory to occur, but that will be a       *
  * future design improvement that should not hold open an APAR. *
  *  Marking defect as NIF.                                      *
