APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The message 'IEF861I FOLLOWING RESERVED DATA SET NAMES
UNAVAILABLE' can be issued when Recovery Expert is used to
create system backups for multiple DB2 systems at the same time.
This errors occurs under the following conditions:
    .
The same Recovery Expert repository is used for both (or all)
    the jobs.
The job contains steps to perform both the Recovery Expert
System Backup and the steps to backup the internal recovery
    expert repository.

Local fix

  • Add a job card before step 3. This job card should use the same
job name that is being used for the 3 step job. When this JCL is
submitted, it will create two separate jobs with the same job
card. The first job will contain steps 1 and 2 and the second
job will contain step 3. Because the job card uses the same job
name, the repository backup job will wait until the SLB/Offload
    job is complete.
