PM69092: Save action of a COBOL file fails because of invalid characters it will incorrectly appear as saved in LPEX editor

Error description

• APAR Error Description:
  Abstract: In Rational Developer for System z (RDz) v7.6.2.3,
  attempt to save a COBOL file containing invalid characters
  results in error:
  
  Save could not be completed.
  Reason: Some characters cannot be mapped using 'Cp1252'
  character encoding.
  
  The file will then incorrectly appear as saved.
  
  Problem: Steps to reproduce the problem:
  
  1) Open a COBOL file mapped to local code page Cp1252
  2) make some changes
  3) enter an hexadecimal character ( 8e for example) using
  copy/paste or ALT+keypad (ALT+178 for example).
  4) Save the file =? error is raised: Some characters cannot be
  mapped using 'Cp1252'
  5) Notice that file appears now as saved (not * on the editor
  tab)
  6) Close the editor (no prompt to save the file)
  7) Reopen the file: changes made at 2 are lost
  
  
  Local fix:
  Problem doesn't happen with COBOL Editor.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• When a user enters characters in LPEX which are not supported in
  the encoding of the file, then saves, LPEX displays an error,
  and then marks the editor as no longer dirty, implying that the
  save has actually occured.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V7.6.2.5 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
