Error description

  • IBM Rational ClearQuest Web does not return error when link is
    failed to update in IBM Rational DOORS due to the following
    limitation with ClearQuest DOORS integration:
    
    -There is an exclusive lock is on the requirement module. Users
    should close the module in DOORS client when adding/removing
    links from the ClearQuest Web client. Otherwise, the backlink on
    the requirement module won?t be created or removed.
    
    -Users should have an ?modify? permission on the requirement
    module. Otherwise, the backlink on the requirement module won?t
    be created or removed when adding/removing links from the
    ClearQuest Web client.
    
    Steps to reproduce:
    
    Adding a link from ClearQuest Web
    1. Open a module in a DOORS client.
    2. Modify a record in a ClearQuest Web client.
    3. Go to Links tab and add Implements Request and select an
    object in the DOORS module in step 1.
    4. Save the record.
    5. Open the DOORS module. Notice link to a ClearQuest is not
    created.
    
    Removing a link from ClearQuest Web
    1. Make sure a module is not opened in a DOORS client.
    2. Modify a record in a ClearQuest Web client and add Implements
    Request in Links tab.
    3. Open the module in a DOORS client and make sure link is
    created.
    4. Keep the module open.
    5. Modify the same record in a ClearQuest Web client and remove
    the link added in the step 2.
    6. Check the module in a DOORS client. The link is not removed.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearQuest 9.0.1.3
    To prohibit ClearQuest Web from saving a record unless the OSLC
    back link creation is successful, the following option can be
    set in cqSiteConfig.pref:
    appOpt$failCommitIfBacklinkCreationFails": "yes",
    When this option is set, ClearQuest will wait for a positive or
    negative response from the OSLC friend before a record will be
    saved.  This can negatively impact performance.
