Error description

  • Headline:
    Cannot connect to a V8 CM server where the url name is starting
    with 'http://ccrc'
    
    APAR Description:
    In Rational ClearCase V8, if the name of the host where CCRC WAN
    server is installed, start
    with the characters 'ccrc' (e.g. ccrc-test or ccrctest), connect
    to CCRC WAN server will
    fail with the following error.
     CRMAP7009: CCRC command 'Login' failed: Error:'Malformed server
    response.
     The server at 'http://ccrc' is not a correctly configured
    ClearCase Web Server.'
    Please note you get different responses depending on if you use
    lowercase (ccrc*) or uppercase
    (CCRC*). If you use CCRC* (uppercase) you get no response at
    all.
    
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Set an alias that starts with 'ccrc' (e.g. ccrc-test) for the
    (CCRC WAN) server name
    2. Open ClearTeam Explorer
    3. Connect CCRC WAN Server (ClearCase ? Connect)
    4. Use the alias in the Server URL (e.g http://ccrc-test:80/ccrc
    instead of http://?server
    name?:80/ccrc), enter the username and password
    5. The following error will show up:

    6. set an alias that starts with 'CCRC' (uppercase) for the
    (CCRC WAN) server name
    7. Open ClearTeam Explorer
    8. Connect CCRC WAN Server (ClearCase ? Connect)
    9. Use the alias in the Server URL (e.g http://CCRC-test:80/ccrc
    instead of http://?server
    name?:80/ccrc), enter the username and password
    10. The login windows disappears and no connection
    
    
    WORKAROUND:
    - change the name of the server to a name that doesn't start
    with http://CCRC or http://ccrc
    - or use the ip-address of the server
    - or use an alias of the server that doesn't start with
    http://CCRC or http://ccrc
