APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • WebSphere MQ V6 or V7 queues become "missing" from clusters.

    Application calls to MQOPEN (sometimes MQPUT1, MQPUT) suffer
    queue name lookup errors (Examples: 2085, 2082) when they try to
    access the affected cluster queues.

Local fix

  • Do not issue a REFRESH CLUSTER against a full repository queue
    manager.

    * queue which has no subscriptions. Also *

    * The cluster queue indicated may *
    *                      disappear unexpectedly.                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a full repository is demoted to a partial it requests that
    any partial repositories in the cluster remake their
    subscriptions to another full repository. However it remakes the
    subscription with the REFRESH bit off, regardless of whether
    existing subscriptions had the REFRESH bit on. This can result
    in the situation where the cluster queue has its REFRESH bit on,
    but its subscriptions have the REFRESH bit off.
    In time this new subscription will expire and not be remade,
    even though the queue might be in constant use. When this
    happens the CSQX456I message and an FFST will be issued to
    indicate the missing subscription.

Problem conclusion

  • rrmRemakeSub will now initialise the new subscription with the
    correct values.
