Error description

  • The following abend occurred:
    DSN ,ABND=04E-00E20003,U=uuuuuuu ,M=C9 ,C=101.DMC -DSNIISRT,
     DISTRBUTED,LOC=DSNICUBD.DSNSVBK +070E
    The caller of storage obtain was DSNICUBD +0F8F .
    The last entries in save flow were:
    DSNISRTI -> DSNIZAZ2 -> DSNICUBD -> DSNSVBK
                                                                   .
    The dump showed about 5200 pieces of 108K bytes of CUBD storage
    blocks that were allocated for IPROC .
    Also the dump showed heavy use of ( insensitive ) static
    scrollable cursors and at least 5200 internal active DGTTs
    created with ' on commit delete rows '. All of these internal
    DGTTs had their associated IPROC allocated , size 108k .
    In this case there was no COMMIT being performed periodically ,
    so the DGTT CUBs along with their IPROC blocks were still around
    with the thread .
    More frequent commits while using static scrollable cursors may
    help.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    DB2 experienced storage shortage and caused the DB2 system to
    crash. The storage shortage is caused by excessive number of
    IPROC blocks being accumulated due to previous insert operations
    to many DGTT tables. DB2 did not release or reuse those IPROC
    storage at a proper time.

Problem conclusion

  • DB2 code is fixed to properly release the IPROC storage
    and reuse it when the next new IPROC is to be allocated.
