APAR status

Error description

  • IBM Rational ClearTeam Explorer cores on AIX when performing a
    checkout of a UTF8 element which results in a mkbranch
    operation.
    
    An error similar to the following may be seen:

    CRMAP7009: CCRC command  'checkout' failed: CRMSV1002: Unable to
    checkout '/store/view1/vob1/file1.js'
    
    CRMSV3012: Problems performing  checkout. CCRC WAN Server:
    Error: Unable to invoke operation  'create_branch' for manager
    'utf8_file_delta': -1
    
    CCRC WAN Server: Error: (Operation pathname was:
    '/opt/rational/clearcase/lib/mgrs/utf8_file_delta/create_branch'
    )
    
    CCRC WAN Server: Error: Unable to store new  version.
    
    CCRC WAN Server: Error: Unable  to create branch requested by
    -mkbranch option in config spec.
    
    CCRC WAN Server: Error: Unable to check out
    '/store/view1/vob1/file1.js'.

    The issue only impacts UTF8 files.  It is not seen if a mkbranch
    is not required for the checkout.
    
    This has been observed to occur on one or more AIX 6.1 systems.
    It is not seen in all environments.
    
    
    Steps to reproduce the issue:
    
    - Enable the UTF-8 Type Manager as per technote
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21424805
    
    - Create at least one element of the new utf8_file element type.
    
    - Create a new branch in the vob, 'testbranch'.
    
    - Configure a new ClearTeam Explorer view to load the element,
    using a config spec with a mkbranch rule for 'testbranch'.
    
    - Checkout the element in ClearTeam Explorer.
    
    
    Workarounds:
    
    - Manually create the branch outside of ClearTeam Explorer for
    each file element.
