Error description

  • CCRC WAN server fails to authenticate users when the WebSphere
    profile hosing the server is not running as root

    All UNIX and Linux Systems hosting the WAN Server
    
    
    To Reproduce the Problem:
    
    1)  Install WebSphere 8.0 and IHS 8.0
    
    2)  Configure a new application server profile as a non-root
    user
    
    3)  Install ClearCase 8.0.0.1 WAN Server profile into the
    existing profile created within step 2) above
    
    4)  After ClearCase is installed, stop and restart the
    Application server profile created with the correct non-root
    user account
    
    5)  Attempt to use the CTE client and login to the WAN Server.
    The error displayed is as follows:
    
    CRMAP7009: CCRC command 'Login' failed: Unable to connect to
    server at
    URL ?http://?URL?/ccrc?
    
    
    NOTE:  The same error occurs if the profile is not installed
    within an existing profile, and the
    /opt/rational/common/ccrcprofile is changed to run as a non-root
    user (per WebSphere instructions to change the ownership of a
    profile)
    
    
    Workaround:  Run the WebSphere profile as root
