APAR status

Error description

  • In IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) 7.1 and IBM
    Rational ClearTeam Explorer (CTE), comment changes made to a
    checked out version are lost upon checkin.
    
    Steps to reproduce the issue:
    
    1) In ClearTeam Explorer, checkout a file with the comment
    'Checkout comment'.
    
    2) While the file is still in a checked out state, right-click
    the filename and select Show Properties.
    
    3) In the Properties window, click 'Version'.
    
    4) Under 'Description', change the comment from 'Checkout
    comment' to 'Post-checkout comment'.  Close the Properties
    windows.
    
    5) Right-click the filename and select 'Check in'.  Note the
    comment field displays 'Checkout comment', rather than
    'Post-checkout comment'.
    
    6) Selecting OK to complete the checkin will preserve the
    'Checkout comment' description.  Selecting cancel will result in
    the description still reflecting 'Post-checkout comment'.
    
    
    Workaround:
    
    Manually change the comment during the checkin operation.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearCase versions 7.1.2.7 and 8.0.0.3
