Error description

  • When bringing up the IMS HALDB Partition Definiton utility
using the ISPF command EXEC 'hlq.SDFSEXEC(DFSHDSRT)' 'HLQ(hlq)'
receive the message Database information for 'dddddd' was not
    found.
This happens when the IMS DD statement already allocated and
    dataset hlq.DBDLIB does not exist.
An error message should be issued when bringing up the
Partition Definition Utility indicating IMS DD statement is
not allocated rather then encounter a database not found
    condition

Local fix

  • Issue the ISPF command ALLOC F(IMS) DA('xxx.DBDLIB') SHR

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User received error message: DSPM001I *
    * DATABASE INFORMATION FOR dddddd WAS *
    *                      NOT FOUND.                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
The DSPM001I message indicates to the user the database name
entered is not found in the DBDLIB. The message was
misleading in this case because the root cause was that the
IMS DD statement that contains the DBDLIB was not allocated,
and the search for a DBDLIB in the form of 'hlq'.DBDLIB was
    not successful.

Logic should be added to differentiate between the condition
where the DBDLIB is not allocated versus the condition where
the database name entered is not found in the DBDLIB.

Problem conclusion

  • GEN:
    KEYWORDS:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
Modules DFSHDSRT and DFSIX10 have been changed to resolve the
issue. Logic has been added to issue message DFSIX107 if the
IMS DD statement is not allocated, and the DBDLIB data set
name is not in the form of 'hlq'.DBDLIB.

IMS V11 Messages and Codes Volume 1, will be updated by adding
    message DFSIX107 as follows:

DFSIX107 THE DBDLIB WAS NOT FOUND: dddddd
Explanation: The IMS DD statement is not allocated, and
the data set name is not in the form of
                 'hlq'.DBDLIB.
System Action: The Partition Definition Utility is started.
System Programmer Response: Select option 6 on the PDU panel
                                to view IMS DD statement.
User can either allocate the IMS
                                DD statement that contains the
                                DBDLIB, or change the DBDLIB
                                data set name to: 'hlq'.DBDLIB.
