Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of CDC for z/OS. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After applying PTF UK75009 (for CDC *
    *                      version 6.2) or UK75010 (for CDC        *
    * version 6.5), CPU consumption by the *
    * CDC address space may increase *
    *                      markedly.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The additional DB2 COMMITs added in PTF UK75009 and UK75010 seem
    to use an inordinate amount of CPU in some environments.

Problem conclusion

  • Only the Log Cache thread now performs the DB2 COMMITs
    unconditionally. Subscription threads that read the DB2 log
    only perform the DB2 COMMITs if they have actively read the DB2
    log since the last COMMIT was performed. In addition, the
    LOGREADCOMMITINTERVAL keyword was added to CHCDBMxx to give the
    customer control over the interval at which the DB2 COMMITs are
    performed by the log reader threads.
