Error description

  • Clearquest eclipse client continues to log into old physical
database after moving user databases resulting in data loss.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Set up out of box clearquest databases in MS ACCESS ( any
    vendor) based off DefectTracking schema.
    2. Bring up eclipse client and log into the database. ( this
    step is important)
    3. Using maintenance tool, move schema repository to another
location. Using Designer, move user database. Confirm in the
designer that database properties point to the new location.
    4. Login to CQ using rcp client on the same machine and submit
    records.
    5. All the new submissions, modifications go into old user
    database.
    6. Now bring up native windows client which will log into new
location automatically. You won't be able to find records
    submitted earlier using rcp client.

The end user has no clue that the data submitted through rcp
client is going to the wrong database.

    ****************************************************************
ClearQuest Eclipse client continues to log into an old
database even after it's been moved.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearQuest 7.1.2.9 and 8.0.0.5.

After a database move, ClearQuest Eclipse will log into the
new moved database so data is put in the correct place.
