Error description

  • The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.

    This probably reflects a bug in the program.
    The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
      (Details: serial 138 error_code 3 request_code 42 minor_code
    0)
      (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported
    asynchronously;
       that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
       To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
       option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
       backtrace from your debugger if you break on the
    gdk_x_error()
    function.)
    Eclipse:
    JVM terminated. Exit code=1
    /usr/WAS/IBM/WebSphere8/java/jre/bin/javaw
    -Xbootclasspath/a:/usr/WAS/IBM/WebSphere8/lib/bootstrap.jar
    -Djava.endorsed.dirs=/usr/WAS/IBM/WebSphere8/endorsed_apis:/usr/
    WAS/IBM/
    WebSphere8/java/jre/lib/endorsed

    Along with below error,

    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Could not load SWT library.
     Reasons: /root/.ibm/WebSphere/AppServer/configurations/WCT8/
     org.eclipse.osgi/bundles/51/1/.cp/libswt-pi-gtk-3659.a
     (A file or directory in the path name does not exist.)

    Both above errors are due to the issue in eclipse i.e
    https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=366230
     -
    This problem also affects the migration command used to start
    the
    Websphere Customization Toolbox.
    A log is created that shows:
      !ENTRY org.eclipse.osgi 4 0 2012-06-13 14:55:04.178
      !MESSAGE Application error
      !STACK 1
      org.eclipse.swt.SWTError: No more handles [gtk_init_check()
      failed]

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When trying to launch PMT using X-Window client, it fails to
    render the GUI and throws a X-Window system error

Problem conclusion

  • See the temporary fix section for work-around.

Temporary fix

  • 1) Goto: {WAS_HOME}/bin/profileManagent/eclipse64/

    2) Edit pmt.sh by adding "-nosplash" option before "-vm" as
    shown below:
    ./eclipse -perspective
    com.ibm.ws.pmt.views.standalone.perspectives.standAlonePerspecti
    ve -nosplash -vm "%WAS_HOME%\java\jre\bin\javaw.exe"

    3) Save the file and now run pmt.sh

    4) You will not see the splash screen but PMT GUI would come
    up

    Apply the above steps for wct.sh
