Error description

  • This APAR addresses the following problems of the DB Sensor:
    - DB_UNUSED_BYTES and DBX_UNUSED_BYTES do not contain the
    recent value for online VSAM KSDS even if TOSIXCFGRP is
    specified
     - DB_NUM_FSE_MIN has incorrect value when the database is
    HISAM.
     - Average Database Record length that reported in the HD
    Pointer Checker DATABASE RECORD STATISTICS is different from
    DB_AVG_DBREC_LENGTH.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR addresses the following *
    * problems of the Database Sensor: *

    *                      - Average Database Record length        *
    * that reported in the HD Pointer *
    *                       Checker DATABASE RECORD                *
    * STATISTICS is different from *
    *                       DB_AVG_DBREC_LENGTH.                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    This APAR fixes the the following errors:

    1. DB_NUM_FSE_MIN has incorrect value.

     When SENSOR=YES is specified to the PROCCTL data set,
     Database Sensor runs in HDPC job and it generates Sensor data.
     However, DB_NUM_FSE_MIN and DB_AVG_NUM_NOREUSE_FSE values were
     incorrect. This APAR fixes the values.

    2. Average Database Record length that reported in the
     HDPC DATABASE RECORD STATISTICS is different from
     the Sensor data DB_AVG_DBREC_LENGTH. This is because DB Sensor
     includes the padding area in the database record length.
     The padding area is added by IMS to adjust the segment length
     to even value. This difference is confusable.
     To resolve this issue, HD Pointer Checker adds a new
     information
     "AVERAGE DB RECORD LENGTH INCLUDING SEGMENT PAD"
     in the HDPC reports that are
     "Partition Statistics report" and "Database Statistics
     report".
     The report changes are always effective after this APAR
     regardless the DB Sensor is used or not.

     APAR dependency
     If you specify SENSOR=YES to the PROCCTL statement,
    it is required to apply APAR PM55789 for IMS Database
    Reorganization Expert for z/OS Version 4 Release 1
    (FMID=H25N410).

     Migration consideration
     This APAR changes the internal layout of DBDEFCTL data set.
     Ths DBDEFCTL is used for IMS HP Image Copy Multiple-step HASH
     Check option.
     The old format of DBDEFCTL can be used after this APAR.
     It is not required to regenerate the DBDEFCTL.
