Error description
The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS' GEN function can fail with an ABENDU4038, ABENDU4039, ONCODE=150, ONCODE=340 or ONCODE=350 when attempting to create DDL for an object which has an invalid limit key recorded in the DB2 Catalog e.g. SYSIBM.SYSTABLEPART.LIMITKEY may have just a decimal point and no number.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for * * z/OS who use the Generate (GEN) function to * * generate the DDL statement for a partitioned * * object which has an invalid limit key * * defined in the DB2 Catalog table. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, * * when using the GEN function to * * generate the DDL statement for a * * partitioned object and there is a * * period without any digit specified * * for a decimal column when the * * LIMITKEY for a partition is defined, * * the GEN function failed with an * * ONCODE350 / ONCODE=350: * * * * IBM0361W ONCODE=350 * * The STRINGRANGE condition * * was raised. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, when using using the GEN function to generate the DDL statement for a partitioned object and there is a period without any digit specified for a decimal column when the LIMITKEY for a partition is defined, the GEN function fails with an ONCODE350 / ONCODE=350: IBM0361W ONCODE=350 The STRINGRANGE condition was raised.
Problem conclusion
The program has been changed to generate an error message and terminate if the GEN function encounters an invalid LIMITKEY value during process. The user should correct the invalid value in the DB2 Catalog table and then try again: ADB1944E In the DB2 catalog table SYSTABLEPART, there is a record of PARTITION >partition-no< of >obj_type< >obj_qualifier<.>obj_name<, which has a invalid value >invalid-value< for part >col_sequence< of column LIMITKEY. partition-no: partition number. obj_type: index or table. obj_qualifier: qualifier of the object which caused error. obj_name: name of the object which caused the error. invalid-value: invalid value in the catalog table. col_sequence: the sequence of column in the LIMITKEY.
