Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS ALT function issues a
  message:
  
     ADB1602E No Volumes found for Stogroup=<stogroup>
  
  when the STOGROUP was defined with the VCAT and DATACLASS but
  not VOLUMES clause and the SYSIBM.SYSSTOGROUP.RELCREATED column
  for the STOGROUP shows blank.

  *                 created prior to DB2 9.  Users who use the   *
  *                 Alter Table (ALT) function to alter a        *
  *                 table that has its table space or its        *
  *                 index table space using the storage group    *
  *                 defined as above.                            *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS,    *

  *                      DDL statement for a storage group       *
  *                      defined with the VCAT clause and one    *
  *                      or more of the DATACLAS, MGMTCLAS, or   *
  *                      STORCLAS clauses, but without the       *
  *                      VOLUMES clause, and column              *
  *                      SYSSTORGROUP.RELCREATED for the storage *
  *                      group in the catalog is blank, which    *
  *                      means the storage group was created     *
  *                      prior to DB2 9. When using the ALT      *
  *                      function to alter a table that its      *

  *                      The STRINGRANGE condition was raised.   *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, when using the GEN function
  to generate DDL statement for a storage group defined with the
  VCAT clause and one or more of the DATACLAS, MGMTCLAS, or
  STORCLAS clauses, but without VOLUMES clause, and the storage
  group was created prior to DB2 9 then migrated to DB2 9 or above
  and using the ALT function to alter a table that its table space
  or its index table space using the storage group defined as
  above, the GEN or ALT function failed with an ADB1602E error
  message indicating that the program failed to find any
  accessible volumes, although it is not necessary because the
  storage group is managed by Storage Management Subsystem
  (SMS), and also caused a warning message in the job log
  when the user specify parameter DEBUGDTS in the ALTPARM list
  to turn on debug:
  
  ADB1602E No Volumes found for Stogroup=>stogroup<.
  IBM0361W ONCODE=350 The STRINGRANGE condition was raised.
  

Problem conclusion
