PM52132: DFHSM0131 CICS SHORT ON STORAGE BELOW THE LINE CDSA CONTAINS KESTK24E STORAGE FOR DFHTIEM

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• You receive the following message:
  
  DFHSM0131 CICS is under stress (short on storage below 16MB)
  
  Looking at the dump you see the CDSA contains most of the
  storage below the line. Looking further into the subpools
  contained in the CDSA you see KESTSK24E is the largest.
  This contains CICS stack storage for CICS modules. In this case
  these stacks represented module DFHTIEM, which is defaulting
  to using a stack below the line. This APAR is taken to make
  DFHTIEM use a stack above the line.

  CICS can go SOS for below the line storage. DFHTIEM defaults to
  SMODE(24) for its stack storage. On a system with a constrained
  DSA, many concurrent tasks attempting to acquire TIEs for the
  RMI can lead to an SOS condition.

Problem conclusion

• DFHTIEM has been changed to use 31-bit Kernel Stack storage, so
  it no longer contribute to CICS going short on storage below the
  line.
