Error description

  • The IBM Rational ClearCase UCM command 'cleartool rmbl' searches
for baselines in other PVOBs to make sure that the baseline
being deleted is not member of any other baseline. This check is
not complete as there are some scenarios, for example when the
baseline is a member of a composite baseline (created in a PVOB
that is part of a different AdminVOB hierarchy), that will leave
    the baseline broken.

    WORKAROUND:
    None.

Fixes a problem in ClearCase UCM when we do a rmbl on a
baseline which may be a dependent baseline of another
composite baseline, Currently while calculating the reverse
dependency we only look in the pvobs in the AdminVOB
hierarchy . And if there is a composite baseline which is in
a pvob which is not in the same AdminVOB ?hierarchy as the
pvobs containing the baseline being deleted and has the
baseline being deleted as a dependent then we allow the
    deletion.
?After the fix, we will search in all the pvobs in the
region in the registry and so the composite will be found
even if the pvob containing it is not in the AdminVOB
    hierarchy.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearCase versions 7.1.2.7 and 8.0.0.3
