Error description

  • An error popup is shown that says, "An error occurred during
    fetch of message detail.  Please ensure that you are connected
    to the network and you can access the server.  Review server
    logs for further analysis" when trying to export a repository
    from the High Performance Extensible Logging (HPEL) Log Viewer
    in the administrative console.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED:  All users of IBM WebSphere Application      *
    *                  Server V8.0 using the administrative        *
    *                  console to view log records stored by a     *
    *                  server switched to High Performance         *
    *                  Extensible Logging (HPEL) mode.             *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In HPEL Logging mode, under             *
    *                      Troubleshooting ->Logs and Trace ->     *
    *                      (server) -> View HPEL Logs and Trace    *
    *                      1. click export... button               *
    *                      2. make necessary selection             *
    *                      3. click ok                             *
    *                      Exporting the HPEL repository from      *
    *                      the Log Viewer in the administrative    *
    *                      console does not generate the           *
    *                      expected repository and is unrelated    *
    *                      to network connectivity as implied by   *
    *                      the error message.                      *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

    The export function had not been working correctly as a result
    of an incorrectly overriden Dojo method used to send request
    to the server.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The problem was corrected by updating the code using this
    method to add the necessary parameter to the call instead of
    overriding the method.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.0.0.2.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
