Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 using the High Performance * * Extensible Logging (HPEL) Message * * Converter * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The HPEL Message Converter is not * * returning the correct message id * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** You should be able use the HPEL Message Converter to retrieve the message id of a given message if the message id format is either the WebSphere Application Server v6.0 (and earlier)format or the WebSphere Application Server v7.0 (and later). The problem is that the message converter will return null if the message format is the format of WebSphere Application Server v6.0 and earlier.
Problem conclusion
This has been corrected such that the message ID will be returned if the message id format one of WebSphere Application Server's format. If the message ID is not recognized as a WebSphere Application Server type, then a null will be returned. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.2.
