This PTF provides multiple performance improvements and bug fixes. . Performance: Backups to tape may benefit from a reduction in output device I/O volume. . Performance: Backups of CMS files from minidisks and SFS resources may benefit from a reduction in the number of CSL (Callable Service Library) routine invocations. . Bug fix: Incremental backup of some complex SFS hierarchies could exhibit impaired performance. This update corrects the problem. . Bug fix: Diagnostic run-time dump now correctly reports "EXECMAP" information. . Bug fix: In some configurations, deletion of expired backup Catalog entries did not fully remove volume forward-chain entries from the backup catalog. This update corrects the omission, and introduces additional consistency checks of the backup catalog file space to detect and correct the problem. . Behavior change: Backup catalog file space consistency checks are now executed at BKRCATLG initialization as well as during "EXPIRE" processing. Prior to this update, consistency checks were executedonly during the final stage of content expiration processing. . Bug fix: An error in ECKD DASD track image backup I/O error Recovery could produce inconsistent state information during a backup job. This update corrects the problem, and handles unrecoverable DASD errors as a non-retryable condition. . Behavior change: When an incremental backup job refers to a non-existent baseline full backup job instance, the net result is that a full backup of all objects in the backup job is performed. This update will display a warning via message 9357W in the backup job log when this condition is detected. . Bug fix: LOADDDL has been updated to display source data Validation messages from the BKRUME message repository instead of in-line code during restore-to-rdr processing. . Behavior change: The backup job log continues to document Unsuccessful minidisk LINK attempts via message 9303W. The end-of-job activity summary report has been extended to itemize minidisks which could not be linked during backup job execution.
