Error description
IQC6101I QUEUE SPACE USAGE WARNING. QUEUE DATA SET SMSQ USAGE COUNT IS 674 WHICH IS 95% AS SPECIFIED IN OVERFLOW TABLE. MSGIQC6101I is received incorrectly due to the customer system being XRF capable and the way QCF handles the two queue types (Normal and Local) after a restart. Originally LOCAL queues are used (before a restart), but after a restart the NORMAL queues are used which causes QCF to believe it's init was done thus incorrectly comparing the message belonging to the NORMAL queue with that of the LOCAL queue. This is a continuation of APAR PM43734 PTF UK71430.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users with XRF capable systems and * * QCF3.1 overflow protection. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IQC6101I message received, warning that * * the short message queue is almost * * full, when it is not. The message is * * for takeover IMS queues, but this is * * not obvious, because the IMSid is * * the same. * * The takeover IMS queues are small * * and the reported condition is true. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** With XRF capable IMS and very small size of the short and long message queues for the takeover IMS - the percentage of queues grows for the takeover IMS and the criteria for issuing the warning messages is met. If the queues are very small-the condition is really what is reported in the message - even the 95% can be reached. Warnings are for the takeover IMS, but this is not obvious from the message. The size of short and long message queues for the takeover IMS shold be big enough - to stay under the lowest AREA in the overflow protection. Also - the overflow protection internal tables are not re-ini- tialized if the maximum number of blocks, passed on IMS call to check the queue status, is less than the size, already stored in the tables.
Problem conclusion
Install the APAR to avoid initialization with smaller queue values. Short and long messages queues for the takeover IMS should be large enough to stay under the lowest protection AREA all the time.
