Error description

  • Configuration:
    --------------
    Rhapsody v7.6
    DOORS v9.2

    Problem Description:
    ---------------------
    We are using the COM API 'bringWindowToTop' in a DXL script to
    communicate with Rhapsody.

    But on many occassions the API does not bring the Rhapsody
    application to the front, instead it just flashes across the
    screen.

    However at times it does work correctly and brings the Rhapsody
    application to front.

    This temperemental behvior is not acceptable, we are not sure
    whether it is the fault of the Rhapsody COM API or the DXL
    script.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    ---------------------
    1. Open an instance of Rhapsody application and DOORS
    application

    2. Create a sample formal module in DOORS

    3. Use Tools ? Edit DXL

    4. Enter the below script

    /* Start Code */

    void doorsNavigator() {
     OleAutoObj rhapApp = oleGetAutoObject('Rhapsody.Application')
     oleMethod(rhapApp, 'bringWindowToTop')
    }
    doorsNavigator()

    /* End Code */

    5. Run and observe behavior

    I cannot reproduce this behavior (tested with DOORS).
    The bring window to front is calling the windows API to
    perform this operation, Maybe something in your environment
    causes the window to close.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect is not reproducible.
