APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When building in an IBM Rational ClearCase dynamic view using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SP1, the build appears to succeed, but the program may not correctly execute. Investigation shows that the manifest was not being correctly updated during the link phase of the build. One possibly related APAR is: IC43253. However, in this issue, the workaround listed at https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC43253 has no impact at all. Workaround: Turning off incremental linking does resolve this issue.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During a build, the incremental link was taking an incorrect action because the modification time of an object, viewed only in discrete seconds, appeared not to have changed. However, changes had occurred within a second. MVFS was not maintaining timestamps below the granularity of seconds.
Problem conclusion
Fixed in ClearCase 7.1.1.8, 7.1.2.5, and 8.0.0.1.
