Error description
You may experience performance degradation when running an executable in a dynamic view on Microsoft Windows 7. This behavior occurs in a directory that contains 1000s of cross-vob symbolic links. Performance may decrease if your config spec for the view limits the number of links that are visible.

Comments
The Windows Application Compatibility Engine is enabled by default; when an executable is launched, this system component issues a directory query call which traverses all elements in the directory containing the executable. The time for this query to complete will increase with the size of the directory. This processing overhead can be eliminated by disabling the Application Compatibility Engine. This is accomplished using the group policy editor, gpedit.msc, as follows: Start gpedit.msc Select \ Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Application Compatibility Right click: Turn off Application Compatibility Engine and select edit. select "Enabled" and confirm using the OK button. Reboot.
