Error description

• Environment: RFT8202 iFix001
  IE: 7.0 and 8.0
  
  Problem description: Customer recorded a test script with IE8 /
  RFT8.2 version. The script was able to execute properly. The
  script no longer works with IE8 / RFT 8202 iFix001 or RFT82.x
  version.
  
  
  There are two problems here:
  
  1) Recording: RFT does not record the click on the items in the
  dropdown with IE8 / IE7
  2) Playback existing script (it was recorded with IE6), the
  browser crashes. Here is what causing the crash:
          list_ddlProperties().click();
          list_ddlProperties().click(atText('VBMfromAuto2'));
  
  Exception:
  
  The RFT 8.2x test script failing on the playback with
  DropDownTest.testMain had an unhandled exception when selecting
  item from HTML Listbox in AUT.
  
  Here is the RFT Log with the exception message:
  ?    exception_context = click() called on

  ddlProperties).

  ..
  
  It worked with IE6 / RFT8.x and it never worked with IE 7 ? 8
  against any version of RFT.
  
  How to reproduce:

  Use IE8 / RFT8202 iFix001

  Pre-Script procedures after logging in:
  
  1.) Click on 'Setup' tab near the top.
  
  2.) Click on 'Materials/Activities' link that appears under the
  tabs.
  3.) Click on 'Material/Activity Field Library' link on the page
  that appears.
  
  4.) Click on 'New Material/Activity Field' link on the page that
  appears.
  
  5.) Click on 'Formula Based Primary' radio button and click on
  'Continue' button.
  
  6.) Expand the 'Formula history' tab on the page that appears.
  7.) Click on the 'New' link.
  8.) Click on the little calculator icon to the right of the
  Formula Text Area.
  
  9.) Click the 'Add' button next to the DDL, then when a new
  window open up, select the checkbox next to 'VBMfromAuto2' line,
  then click on 'Select Properties' button. This adds the single
  item to DDL.
  
  Either you follow the above steps or you should be able to run
  the attached script. The RFT Log throwing an exception after
  attempting to select specific text on the 'Material properties'
  dropdown list.
  
  The current workaround:
  list_ddlProperties().select('VBMfromAuto2');it would work
  properly.
  
  Expected : Error free playback from the dropdown list
  Actual: RFT does not record a click ? browser crash for a
  existing script
  

Local fix

  The playback on the combobox was not selecting the combobox

Problem conclusion

• The problem is no longer reproducible with the current 821
  release.
