Error description

  • If a migrated dataset is found during a system backup and a
customer chooses to continue taking the backup, the system
backup is marked as a 'PARTIAL' system backup. When this occurs,
all subsequent system backups are marked as partial even if
there are no migrated datasets or excluded volumes.
The symptom of this bug is that these system backups are not
eligible for Disaster Recovery purpose because RE wont consider
partial system backups as valid for Disaster Recovery use.

Local fix

  • For a DB2 system backup method type profile, users can delete
the system backup profile and recreate them. For all other
profile types (ie FlashCopy, Snap, etc), users can just edit the
profile and save it to reset the designation as PARTIAL.
