Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * * V8.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A system programmer or security * * auditor can not correlate WebSphere * * Optimized Local Adapter (WOLA) * * outbound * * requests with CICS requests. * **************************************************************** * **************************************************************** System programmers or security auditors for WebSphere Application Server for z/OS can not correlate WOLA outbound requests and CICS requests using z/OS standard reporting tools like System Management Facility (SMF).
Problem conclusion
Code has been add to create a System Management Facility 120 subtype 10 record for WebSphere Optimized Local Adapter outbound requests. See the information center for the layout of the new SMF 120 subtype 10 record. The new SMF 120 subtype 10 record contains a WOLA Outbound Request type specific section. Inside this section is a 256 byte field (SM120AD8) called the outbound request correlator context. This correlator context also ends up in the CICS SMF 110 records. A new environment variable was added to control the creation of the SMF 120 subtype 10 record. The new environment variable name is: server_SMF_outbound_enabled Description: Specifies whether you want a z/OS SMF 120 Subtype 10 record created for WOLA outbound requests. The default is 0. If you specify 1 for this property, an SMF 120 Subtype 10 record is created. Collecting the data for this record could impact performance, do not enable this property unless you have a specific reason for collecting the data that is included in this record. New modify commands have been added to dynamically enable or disable creation of the SMF 120 subtye 10 records. The new modify commands are: f server,SMF,OUTBOUND,ON Used to turn on the creation of SMF 120-10 records. f server,SMF,OUTBOUND,OFF Used to turn off the creation of SMF 120-10 records. f server SMF,OUTBOUND,RESET Used to have the creation of SMF 120-10 records controlled by the value specified on the server_SMF_outbound_enabled environment variable.
