PM41937: ABEND0C4 IQCQMR30 NEAR OFFSET X'1DD6'

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ABENDS0C4 IQCQMR30 x'1dd6' or IQCQMR30-AT-MR3BLOC near offset
  x'3c8'. The abend occurs when there is a secondary transaction
  message and the the check for LTERM is not done. Some other
  tests are done to look for the not allocated dynamic terminal,
  to set the type to dead letter message.
  In this case the tests are positive, where we try to set the
  flag for the dead letter message, but it is not true and the
  abned occurs.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND0C4 in IQCQMR30.                   *
  *                      This abend can happen while executing   *
  *                      all QCF3.1 functions.                   *
  *                      When the QCF prefix of a secondary      *
  *                      message is to be created, no check is   *
  *                      done for messages type- LTERM or TRANS. *
  *                      All messages are assumed to be LTERM    *
  *                      messages and a check is done for the    *
  *                      destination: permanent/ non permanent   *
  *                      and active/ not active (the SMB is      *
  *                      assumed to be a CNT). If the flags in   *
  *                      the SMB are set to show non permanent   *
  *                      and not active destination,             *
  *                      an address in the SMB is used to do     *
  *                      next checks to set the "dead letter"    *
  *                      flag in the prefix. This address points *
  *                      to storage that does not belong to      *
  *                      control region address space - and      *
  *                      0C4 happens.                            *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Install the APAR to avoid the abend.         *
  ****************************************************************
  When the secondary messages prefix is built, first the
  type of the message is checked. Only if the type of the
  control block is CNT - next checks for "dead letter" are done.
  

Problem conclusion

• Install the APAR to avoid system abends.
