PM41933: PRF JOB ALWAYS RESTARTS EVEN AFTER A SUCCESSFULL XRST

Error description

• This APAR will address the following:
  - Program Restart Facility can cause a job to restart multiple
    times even though an XRST was successfully completed.
  - A CKPT that has not been committed by IMS may be selected by
    Program Restart Facility for restart incorrectly when it
    should be marked indoubt.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Job always restarts even after a        *
  *                      successful XRST. Also, a CKPT that has  *
  *                      not been committed by IMS may be        *
  *                      selected by Program Restart Facility    *
  *                      for restart incorrectly when it should  *
  *                      be marked indoubt.                      *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  Program Restart Facility can cause a job to restart multiple
  times even though an XRST was successfully completed.  Also, a
  CKPT that has not been committed by IMS may be selected by
  Program Restart Facility for restart incorrectly when it should
  bemarked indoubt.
  The CTDS data sets can be left after a restart if the
  application takes no checkpoints after an XRST call.
  Program Restart Facility may select an indoubt checkpoint for
  restart incorrectly.  The checkpoint should be indoubt.
  

Problem conclusion

• Update Program Restart Facility to ensure that CTDS data sets
  are deleted even when the application does not issue a CHKP
  call after an XRST.
  Correct how Program Restart Facility marks a checkpoint in
  doubt.
