Error description

  • When using IBM Rational Publishing Engine (RPE) with Rhapsody,
the web browser's Back button does not work as expected in
generated HTML documents. This has been seen in the RPE that is
bundled with Rhapsody 7.5.3, as well as when using RPE 1.1.2
directly with Rhapsody 7.5.3. The browser used during testing
    was Internet Explorer 8.

    To reproduce from Rhapsody:
Open Rhapsody sample Java project: Dishwasher
Open Object Model Diagram: Acme Dishwasher With Factory
Tools ? Rational Publishing Engine ? Generate Report...
    In RPE wizard:
    - Browse to default Rhapsody template (C:\Program
    Files\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\7.5.3\RPE\Templates\ProjectContentRe
    port\ProjectContentReport.dta).
    - Configure HTML output settings (enable Split, customize output
    path if desired).
    - Remove non-HTML outputs.
    - All else can remain at default values.
    - Finish the wizard to generate the HTML document.

The HTML output file is generated successfully. You can see the
    problem by:
    - Clicking Object Model Diagrams -- this brings up Abstract
    Dishwasher
    - Clicking the Acme Dishwasher With Factory link a little
further below -- that brings up Acme Dishwasher With Factory but
not in the frame, just by itself (the left frame with the TOC is
not visible because the Acme Dishwasher With Factory page loads
*below* the frame and the previous page that had displayed,
instead of replacing the previous page in the frame)
    - Clicking the web browser's Back button -- this brings you up
to the top of the page where you can see the previous page you
    were on and the frame
    - Clicking the Back button again -- this takes you a little
further up the page, but not to the actual previous page you
were in (which would be the title page you see when first
    opening the HTML document)
    - Clicking Configurations, further down in the TOC from Acme
Dishwasher With Factory -- this time, the page in the frame is
    replaced
    - Clicking the Back button -- nothing happens, except for the
    Back button becoming grayed out

    To reproduce from RPE 1.1.2:
Open Rhapsody sample Java project: Dishwasher
Open Object Model Diagram: Acme Dishwasher With Factory

To reproduce in 1.1.2, you need to use RPE directly, not
    Rhapsody:
    - Start RPE Doc Studio and open the default Rhapsody template
    (C:\Program
    Files\IBM\Rational\Rhapsody\7.5.3\RPE\Templates\ProjectContentRe
    port\ProjectContentReport.dta).
    Use a .dsx which has:
    - HTML output settings configured to enable Split
    - No non-HTML outputs
    - All else at default values

Generate the document, which works. Open the resulting HTML
    output file and:
    - Click Object Model Diagrams -- this brings up Abstract
    Dishwasher.
    - Click the Acme Dishwasher With Factory link a little further
below -- that brings up Acme Dishwasher With Factory but not in
the frame, just by itself (the left frame with the TOC is not
visible because the Acme Dishwasher With Factory page loads
*below* the frame and the previous page that had displayed,
instead of replacing the previous page in the frame).
    - Click the web browser's Back button -- this brings you up to
the top of the page where you can see the previous page you were
    on and the frame.
    - Click the Back button again -- this takes you a little further
up the page, but not to the actual previous page you were in
(which would be the title page you see when first opening the
    HTML document).
    - Click Configurations, further down in the TOC from Acme
Dishwasher With Factory -- this time, the page in the frame is
    replaced.
    - Click the Back button -- nothing happens, except for the Back
    button becoming grayed out.
