PM38971: NOT ENOUGH DASD SPACE WHEN TRYING TO PREALLOCATE THE NEW TARGET ON THE EXACT VOLUMES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Not enough DASD space when trying to preallocate the new Target
  on the exact volumes.
  The problems seems to be that a source data set grows in size
  and then the refresh of the target fails because it was not
  allocated with enough space. It appears that DFSMSdss is not
  always reallocating that target data sets if they exist. This
  appears to be happening for non-VSAM data sets as well as VSAM
  data sets with REUSE attribute.
  

Local fix

• Workaround for the time being is to include a step to delete the
  target data sets prior to running the cloning job.
