Error description
This APAR enables the FPA to process with less data space when ICACHE=YES is specified and the FPA ANALYZE function to improve the performance. This enhancement is being implemented as a result of FITS requirement MR1224106453.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of HPFPU FPA in Fast Path * * Solution Pack Version 1 Release 1 * * (FMID: HAHQ110). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR provides enhancement to * * increase the system performance for FPA * * Analyze and to reduce Data Space usage * * when ICACHE=YES is specified. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** 1. New internal process in FPA Analyze which reads data from ADS/IC dataset to internal buffer is drastically changed to increase its performance and no longer needs Data Space. 2. The total size of Data Space obtained during all FPA process with ICACHE=YES is reduced to the only total size of Base*, IOVF, and SDEP part needed. *Base size is required only when input is IC format. 3. FPA process is able to take two data spaces for RAA + DOVF part to accept more than 2GB data when input is IC format. 4. Subtext for V3053 is added on purpose to get attention when the error was resulted from IEFUSI exit limitation. This enhancement is being implemented as a result of FITS requirement MR1224106453.

======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== The IMS Fast Path Solution Pack for z/OS Version 1 Release 1 IMS High Performance Fast Path Utilities User's Guide (SC19-2914-01). 2.10.4.37 ICACHE The description at NOTE is modified as follows: | Note: The number of data spaces that are created by FPA is | calculated by the following steps: 1. | Calculate the size of Base, IOVF, and SDEP part for each | input thread subtask. Base is required when input is IC | format. 2. | Arrange Base, IOVF, and SDEP part to put together if | possible. Base is required when input is IC format. * | When the total size is less than 2GB, FPA requires | only one data space. FPA requires two data spaces | otherwise. 2.10.4.39 ICINCOMP The description about data space usage for FPA is modified as follows: | FPA stores all image copy records into a data space storage | when an image copy is used as an input data set. | Because the maximum size of one data space that is created by | FPA is 2 GB, if the total size of the records for the Base par | the IOVF part or the SDEP part exceeds the limit, FPA obtains | another data space storage and stores the records. When | ICINCOMP=YES is specified, the records are compressed and the | total size of the records is reduced. 2.11.3 Processing report The following description are added after "PROCESSING INFORMATION" explanation. '- IOVF/SDEP WAS NOT PRELOADED INTO A DATA SPACE FOR PROCESSING. AREA NO: nnnn, AREANAME: areaname' is printed when FPA Analyze Because FPA Analyze no longer requires Data Space. FPA Reload/Change/Reorg with PTRCHKLVL=FULL option prints the same message due to these options initiate FPA Analyze internall 7.1.3 Messages New message subtext is added to HFPV0004I and HFPV3053E. The message text of the current HFPV3067E is changed. ×**** PE11/09/07 PTF IN ERROR. SEE APAR PM47335 FOR DESCRIPTION
