  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for     *
  *                 z/OS who want to use the DB2 Autonomic       *
  *                 statistics feature and take advantage of     *
  *                 the new DB2 10 HASH ACCESS features in the   *
  *                 ALTER TABLE dialogs.                         *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: New panels were added to support        *
  *                      DB2 10 Autonomic statistics             *
  *                      enhancement. This involves features     *
  *                      like manage/save/restore of RUNSTATS    *
  *                      profiles, manage time windows, display  *
  *                      alerts and run history.  New panels     *
  *                      were added to support HASH ACCESS       *
  *                      in the ALTER TABLE dialogs.  This       *
  *                      involves adding, altering and dropping  *
  *                      hash access on a table created in a     *
  *                      Universal Table Space ( UTS ).  A       *
  *                      warning message was added when a table  *
  *                      is incomplete and being used with the   *
  *                      ALT command.  DB2 users have a          *
  *                      performance issue when accessing        *
  *                      critical data from DB2 tables.          *

  New panels were added as part of System Administration and the
  ALTER TABLE dialog to support the new DB2 10 enhancement.
  A new panel, 'ADBP7HA - Alter Table - Hash organization',
  was added as part of the ALT command.  New warning messages
  were added when using the ALT command on tables.
  A DB2 performance issue is introduced by an index scan
  or table scan for a matching equal predicate.  Using hash
  access can reduce the CPU workload and directly access the
  data from the table to avoid scanning the table or index.

Comments

• The Autonomic statistics enhancement, HASH ACCESS support in ,
  ALTER TABLE and ALT has been delivered.  When running the ALT
  command on an incomplete table, a new warning message, 'Table
  is incomplete', will be issued.  Pressing the F1 key will
  display the reason why the table is incomplete.
