PM34680: Clearquest Choice-list hook calling BuildQuery API doesn't return full resultset if it exceeds HARD_QUERY_LIMIT

Error description

  • In CQ 7.1.*, you can set query limits like HARD_QUERY_LIMIT,
    SOFT_QUERY_LIMITT to restrict the resultset  by a query. This is
    especially useful in web to tackle stability issues. It is
    recommended that customers set up query limits to prevent
    CMserver crashes when users run huge queries. Unfortunately,
    this can affect queries using the API and called in hooks, or
    choice-list hooks referencing users etc.
    
    There should be a way to get the full restultset that exceeds
    the query hard limit if explicitly requested in a  hook.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearQuest 8.0.1.2.
    
    The SetMaxResultSetRows() API can now be added to your
    ClearQuest choice list hook to allow the query row count to
    exceed the HARD_QUERY_LIMIT value.
