Error description
The PTF for this APAR will address the following items in the DB2 Sort product 1. Remove informational DB2 Sort CNK436I message DETAILS: The CNK436I message is issued from DB2 Sort at a site currently running SYNCSORT that is using the SYNCSORT GDSM feature. The PTF will make sure the CNK436I message is not issued. LOCAL FIX: Please disregard the CNK436I msg. 2. ABEND S878 or S80A in a DB2 Utility that invokes DB2 Sort in multiple parallel subtasks DETAILS: ABEND S878 or S80A can occur in a DB2 Utility that invokes DB2 Sort in multiple parallel subtasks with a very limited amount of storage below the 16MB line. 878 80A 3. ABEND S0C4 in DB2 REORG utility with variable-length records DETAILS: ABEND S0C4 can occur in a DB2 REORG utility with variable-length records when the JBPDMX parameter is specified. 0C4 4. Performance degradation can occur on z9, z10 and z196 processors DETAILS: Compatibility support is required to achieve optimal performance on z9, z10 and z196 processors. 5. ABEND S0C4 at QKQ1UNLD + X'194' DETAILS: ABEND S0C4 can occur at QKQ1UNLD + X'194' in an incore sort when an unallocated storage area is attempted to be freed. 6. ABEND S0C4 at the contents of register 7 + X'178'; register 11 points to QKD3DBZD CSECT DETAILS: ABEND S0C4 can occur due to incorrect space calculations. 7. ABEND 1188U, RC=04A0, ABEND 4A4U occurring intermittently DETAILS: ABEND can occur intermittently on a z/OS 1.10 or later operating system. 8. CNK046E SORT CAPACITY EXCEEDED ERROR DETAILS: CNK046E is caused by DB2 Sort's erroneously limiting dynamically allocated SORTWKs to 32 in applications with a very limited amount of main storage. 9. Inadequate message information when filesize estimate is inaccurate. ERROR DESCRIPTION: If DB2 Sort terminates unsuccessfully because the filesize estimate was substantially less than the actual filesize, the CNK526E message is issued without any diagnostic information. The fix will cause a CNK153E message to be issued instead, advising that the filesize estimate needs to be corrected.
