• Headline:
  'Select activities to consider for merge' option unavailable for
  ClearQuest-integrated UCM projects in CCRC 7.1.1.3 or later
  
  
  APAR description:
  
  In IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) 7.1.1.3, 7.1.2 or
  later, the option to 'Select activities to consider for merge'
  in the ClearCase Merge Search is unavailable when selecting a
  destination view which is associated with a IBM Rational
  ClearQuest-integrated UCM stream.
  
  The option to 'Select activities to consider for merge' is still
  available for destination views associated with non-ClearQuest
  UCM projects and streams, however.  Additionally, the option to
  'Select elements to consider for merge' is available under all
  circumstances.
  
  The 'Select activities to consider for merge' functionality was
  introduced in CCRC 7.1.1.2, which is confirmed to work with
  ClearQuest UCM integrated projects; this defect was introduced
  in subsequent versions.
  
  
  Steps to reproduce the issue:
  
  1) In ClearCase Remote Client, select the 'ClearCase ? ClearCase
  Merge Search' menu option.
  
  2) For 'Destination View', choose a view associated with a
  ClearQuest UCM project.
  
  3) Under 'Select Activity', choose any available activity and
  click Next.
  
  4) The only option available will be 'Select elements to
  consider for merge'; the 'Select activities to consider for
  merge' option will not be available, as would be the case when
  selecting a view which is not associated with a CQ-integrated
  UCM project.
  
  
  
  WORKAROUND:
  
  One or more of the following options may allow the needed
  changes to be merged to the target destination:
  
  - Perform the Merge Search from a 7.1.1.2 ClearCase Remote
  Client (it is not necessary to have the CM Server also be at
  7.1.1.2).
  
  - Manually merge the required changes from the ClearCase Remote
  Client version-tree GUI.
  
  - Deliver the activity(ies) as normal to the target, rather than
  performing a Merge Search.
  
  - Use 'cleartool findmerge -fcsets' from a ClearCase
  thick-client to merge the required changes.
