APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • FABADA1 produces the following error message:
    FABA0140E INVALID VALUE IN "DMACXVAL"/"DMACNXTS" - SDEP
    PROCESSING BYPASSED FOR AREA: areaname
    Thereafter when FABADA5 runs, it produces DSDEP stats in
    it's reports which is misleading since the SDEP processing
    was bypassed and an RC 00 is received whereas an RC 04 would
    be more appropriate.

    This is a forward fit of IMS High Performance Fast Path
    Utilities V320 APAR PM28698.

    Forward Fit APAR of HPFPU V3R2 FPB PM28698.
    FABADA1 produces the error message: FABA140E INVALID IN
    "DMACXVAL"/"DMACNXTS" - SDEP PROCESSING BYPASSED FOR AREA:
    areaname, which means that SDEP LB value or SDEP LE value is
    incorrect, so SDEP processing is bypassed.
    Thereafter FABADA5 reports in "DEDB AREA ANALYSIS
    REPORTS" that SDEP freespace is 0%, and its RC is 00 despite
    FABADA1 error. These are misleading value and RC.

Problem conclusion

  • When FABADA1 issues FABA0140E message and bypasses SDEP
    processing for area,

    FABADA1 is modified to show "N/A" for SDEP FREESPACE INFORMATION
    value and SDEP SEGMENT INFORMATION value in "DEDB AREA INFORMATI
    ON REPORT".

         FREESPACE INFORMATION
            %FREESPACE - RAA BASE:  xx%
                         DOVF    :  xx%
                         IOVF    :  xx%
                         SDEP    :  N/A   <==

         SDEP SEGMENT INFORMATION
            NO. OF ROOT SEGS THAT HAVE SDEP SEGS: N/A <==
            NO. OF SDEP SEGMENTS                :         N/A   <==
            SDEP SEGMENT DEFINITION LENGTH (MAX): xxx
            SDEP SEGMENT DEFINITION LENGTH (MIN): xxx
            MAXIMUM SDEP SEGMENT LENGTH         :         N/A   <==
            MINIMUM SDEP SEGMENT LENGTH         :         N/A   <==
            AVERAGE SDEP SEGMENT LENGTH         :         N/A   <==

    FABADA5 is modified as follows;

    * Shows "N/A" for SDEP FREESPACE value in "DEDB AREA ANALYSIS RE
    PORTS" FREESPACE ANALYSIS.

         %FREESPACE - RAA BASE: xxx% %USABLE FREESPACE: xxx%
                      DOVF    : xxx%                    xxx%
                      IOVF    : xxx%                    xxx%
                      SDEP    :  N/A   <==

    * Issues new FABA0525W and FABA0534W messages
    * Changes its RC into 97
